Veteran of a Great Patriotic War 1941-1945. In 1942 voluntarily joined the army, was awarded by military medal of Patriotic War of the second degree. After war he continued study in the art school and, having passed it in 1950, settled out in Kineshma.
Namely the series of Kineshma landscapes where was reconstructed the image of ancient Russian city, has brought celebrity to Michael Utkin. The style of this painter was set in 1950-60. His painting is characterized by temperamental touch, based on sonorous contrasts of color.
