Was born in 1957, in Tbilisi (Georgia). In 1979 passed Yerevan state university. From 1980 till 1984 studied and worked in Yerevan state Academy of painting, workshop of professor Pharaon Mirzoyan. After joined the union of artists as graphic designer and became the constant participant of professional exhibitions. Since 1999 is the member of the Union of artists of Armenia. Irina is also the author of many original design works.

From technical point of view this artist works grow out of too rigid stereotypes. They are in the same time drawing as painting, because Irina is equally gifted by painter and graphic designer talent. It is the frame and contour that are firstly revealed by this artist. But in the deformations no emotional chaos is felt, quite contrary the musical temperament can be guessed.
Irina Mkrtchyan's works were exposed in Switzerland, Poland, Moscow, Yerevan where she was appreciated like serious and perspective artist.
