"Wherever you are waiting"
Was born in 1948 in Mariinsky Posad on Volga.His parents - well-known artists Rozalija Yermolaeva and Vasily Gurin - from the cradle to the grave were professors of Cheboksary art school and have brought up many generations of gifted painters, and their own oeuvre heavily marked Russian pictorial art.
Michael Gurin passed Repin Leningrad State Institute of painting, sculpture and architecture. (1980) and people's artist of the USSR A. Mylnikov was his professor and tutor. By family tradition, Gurin has begun his working career not only as painter, but also as pedagogue. Over a period of 10 years he was professor of Yaroslavl art school and successfully reconciled his pedagogical activities with creative work. His paintings were exposed in many Russian cities and abroad. Among these exhibitions some were personal. Only during last ten years his personal expositions took place in the art museums of Yaroslavl and Cheboksary, Moscow gallery "Alliance of creativity", Feodor Shalyapin's house-museum in Moscow.
Today Michael Gurin's painting, member of the Union of artists of Russia, are in the collections of Krasnoyarsk, Yaroslavl, Cheboksary art museums, in embassy of Russia in Bratislava, in the Russian cultural center of Sofia, private collections of Russia, Europe, America.
An excellent visual memory in combination with fine imaginative vision allows Michael to create lyrical painting, avoiding photographical reality of day-to-day life, and responding to the intimate feeling of human being. His painting is characterized by the diversity of palette. Sometimes he uses a watercolor method: leaves pieces of the white, not painted field, and allows to color be placed freely on a canvas. The composition of his painting can be very unusual - the combination of different genres like portrait, still-life, and landscape.
Painting, as a color dream where all occurs spontaneously. One touch to canvas and the improvisations from provisional color spots appear which call up some theme, transforming in composition. One lay of painting after another producing an effect of a fresco where the multilayered matte touch is transparent, creating refined color and mystery.
Dreams, imaginations, symbols which are embodied by the artist in his pictures, it is Michael Gurin's subtle world. Touch of this painter is recognizable in all genres: still-lifes, landscapes or composition improvisation (fantasy). Everywhere self-expression of sensible personality endowed with special gift of vision of multiple worlds.
